Muddy Monster 15K and 5K

The Muddy Monster 15K and 5K will begin at approximately 10:00 AM following the conclusion of the youth fun runsWalkers are welcome in the 5K. The course is the same for all events and the 15K will consist of 3 loops of the 5K course. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes throughout the day!

 

Monster Mile & Lil’ Monster Dash

The Monster Mile is a great opportunity for young athletes 17 & under to compete in a professional setting but are not quite ready for a 5K distance.  Participants will be treated to the same amenities as the 5K including chip timing, long sleeve t-shirt, post-race refreshments, and can also join the Lil’ Monsters in post-race activities. The Monster Mile will begin at approximate 9:30 AM!

 

The Lil’ Monster Dash is an opportunity for younger runners to partake in the festivities by running approximately 1/4 mile within Seminole Valley Park.  The Lil’ Monster Dash will start at approximately 9:45 AM.  A Halloween treat will await them as they cross the finish line. The Lil’ Monsters are then invited to cheer on their family & friends, show off their costumes to the judges, and participate in activities including:

  • Pumpkin Decorating (mess free stickers)
  • Balloon tying sponsored by Papa Balloon
  • Activities sponsored by our fabulous sponsors including Great Clips & Back-in-Line

Parking

There is ample parking in Seminole Valley within the park fields and parking lots. Please arrive early to avoid congestion and follow the directions of the volunteers.  Once the race begins there will be no further traffic allowed inside the park!  Please do not park in restricted areas.

Support

The race is fully supported including course monitors, dedicated water stops (1 for the 5K and 2 for the 15K), post race refreshments, medical and first-aid support, restroom facilities, and entertainment to bring you through to the finish line. Participants are supported from start to finish!

Event Photography

Jolesch Photography will be taking pictures during the race. Images will be available to view and purchase at www.jolesch.com shortly after the race. Please wear your bib number according to the race rules so that Jolesch can identify and tag your images. Check out some of the images prior years on Facebook.

Post Race Activities

Participants will be able to partake in finish-line refreshments (bagels, hot dogs, fruit, and yes, Halloween candy), catch a post-race massage complements of Carlson College of Massage Therapy, or join the kids in their activities. All participants will also be eligible for fabulous door prizes compliments of our sponsors!

Spectators

Spectators may enjoy the race from any part of the course and Seminole Valley will offer a great 360 degree vantage point to see the participants.  Of course, costumes are encouraged for spectators as well! Please note that caution should always be given during the race to ensure you do not interfere with a participant.

The average temperature in Cedar Rapids, IA on October 23rd is 49 degrees with an average high of 60 and low of 38.  Check the temperature for race weekend and dress accordingly!
